This week, as the Sun moves into Libra and the Earth experiences its second equinox of the year, we are initiated into the second half of our zodiac year. We’re walking into a chapter where the lens through which we see the world is shaped by connection, harmony, collaboration, and love.
On September 22, 2022, the autumnal or fall equinox takes place in the northern hemisphere and the spring or vernal equinox happens in the southern hemisphere. As the Earth comes into a balance of light and dark, day and night, we are invited to honor the polarity within us.
It is on this day that we can bridge who we have been with who we are becoming. But only if we can honor the parts of ourselves that we have lived, expressed, and raised while integrating the parts of ourselves we are still discovering, getting to know, and learning to love. It’s an opportunity to witness each step that has taken us to where we are and acknowledge that each present moment leads us to what is yet to come.
The equinox initiates a time to discover the medicine within. To linger in your inner landscape while the outer landscape slows. It’s a time for healing through feeling by releasing patterns, beliefs, emotions, and identities to create space for new awarenesses. Allow this time to afford you an entirely different experience of self.
Sun enters Libra
Libra season begins on the same day as the equinox. Libra is the zodiac sign of connection, collaboration, love, and beauty and brings us a season of beauty, balance, partnership, and equality. Libra attempts to bring harmony into everything it does, and it has an intuitive ability to sense the balance, or imbalance, in energy around it, whether in matters pertaining to relationship, home, workplace, or self.
While the Sun sits in Libra, it is a beautiful opportunity to explore what balance looks and feels like to each of us as individuals. Whereas Virgo season encouraged us to strip back, refine, let go of noise, and truly get clear on priorities, Libra season initiates a new chapter of life born from that refinement and our chosen priorities. This is our chance to learn how to balance what we have brought into this new chapter.
Mercury retrograde in Virgo
Mercury began its third retrograde of the year two weeks ago and will remain in retrograde until early October. Although it entered retrograde in the sign of Libra, on September 23rd Mercury will move into Virgo.
Virgo is a grounded, practical, and detail-oriented Earth sign. It speaks to the small steps that comprise our lives—our habits, routines, patterns, thinking, and cycles. It is a healing sign by nature, reminding us that our every action holds the potential to be of service to ourselves…or not.
As Mercury focuses its retrograde energy through the lens of Virgo, you are invited to take a closer look at your habits and routines, the non-negotiables in your life, and the way you are of service to yourself. It asks you to get clear on how you desire to connect with and take care of your body, your thoughts, and your intentions, and, by extension, how you take steps toward your greatest desires.
he next six months, until the March Equinox and astrological new year, color the tapestry of your life. Libra is a theme, an energy, and a long-term invitation to literally change the shape of the way we experience life. That invitation is of inward exploration, connection with stillness, and a slowing down in preparation for the darkness of winter.
Libra season is also a beautiful time to create a life that looks and feels like a work of art. To stand back and witness the canvas of our life that we are painting, each and every day with each and every thought, decision, and action. Mercury in Virgo directs us to reflect on those very aspects of self. What are we contributing to the art piece of life? What is each step, habit, and routine adding or creating?
Feel into the energy flow around you. Is there a certain aspect of our life that needs more attention? Perhaps one area of your life’s canvas needs some more paint? Or a new color? Is there a category of your life that has been getting too much attention? Have you been viewing your path with tunnel vision and realizing you need to widen the lens to look at the whole picture? Balance. Harmonize. Create.
