The Sun and Mercury will move into Leo this week, marking the beginning of Leo season and a time of spark, creativity, and vitality. Also, Venus will move into Cancer, inviting beautiful connections within all our relationships. There’s a benevolent, joy-filled, and romantic week ahead.

Venus in Cancer

We each tend to have a unique interpretation of the essence of Venus, the feminine goddess of love, beauty, relationships, and self-worth. In astrology, her namesake planet also speaks to harmony, comfort, and financial abundance. Like all planets, Venus takes on a different style of expression as she moves through each zodiac sign. When she begins her transition through Cancer on July 18th, the energy is nothing short of compassionate, healing, and enchanting.

We’ve become familiar with the nurturing energy of Cancer in recent weeks. We’ve entered Cancer season, experienced a new Moon in Cancer, and seen Mercury move into this sign. Venus in Cancer brings an intense awareness of compassion toward ourselves, it can’t help but overflow toward all those around us. Venus wants you to deepen the connection with your loved ones, sharing moments of unspoken connection that can be felt deep within your body. This time will heal your relationship with your sense of intrinsic worth and allow you to access a beautiful, almost poetic, romantic experience.

Mercury in Leo

Mercury governs all aspects of the mind. It affects how we learn and communicate as well as how we perceive and process the world. As Mercury moves through each sign, our minds begin to filter our lives, experiences, and information through the lens of whichever sign the planet is in at that time.

We begin to feel the fiery and creative energy of Leo as Mercury steps into this bold sign on July 19th. Mercury in Leo is a bold spark of energy, to say the least. It’s a time of grand expression and passion in the way we communicate that also bringss an artistic and creative perspective through which we filter our experience.

During Mercury’s time in Leo, the people around us can be a source of beautiful inspiration. It’s the kind of energy that thrives within creative communities and makes it an even better time to love on ourselves and others through our words. Connect with your innate value and speak to it. Affirmations, words of healing, mirror work—these are all your friends while Mercury is in Leo. Remind yourself of your worth, your beauty, your sense of belonging, and your spark of magic.

Sun in Leo

We have spent the last month in Cancer, a time of slow movement and inner nurturing, deep feelings and swimming within our inner worlds. As the Sun moves into Leo on the 22nd, our expression moves from inward to outward. In astrology, the Sun and Leo are essentially partners, intertwined in the energy, intention, and essence they share with the world. They are cosmic companions that radiate warmth, happiness, and self-expression.

It’s a season of harnessing our inner fires, passion, and vitality into action. Action that is rooted in joy, playfulness, and the pure excitement of being alive. Leo is devoted to diving into life on all levels, to feel all of it so that you may express and create from your experiences. We are invited to take all that we have been exploring within our inner worlds this last month and create something, share it with the world, and inspire others. Leo asks, how do you allow your inspiration and experiences to flow through you? Is it through painting, running, laughing, sharing stories, dancing, making pottery, or something else? Turn it into something beautiful.

This season is all love. Big love. Bold love. Overflowing love. Self-love. Expressed love. Shared love. The kind of love we feel as the Sun touches our skin or we hear a child laugh. The love that radiates each moment from our hearts. It’s a chapter that wants to remind us of the wellspring of joy, warmth, and creativity that is always available within our hearts. Not in a way that cancels out our other very real experiences and emotions of being alive, but in a way that keeps us warm throughout all aspects of our humanness.

Your invitation

There tends to be a certain seriousness in the way we approach our lives, goals, healings, and schedules. This week acts as a giant permission slip to see the joy in each moment. It reminds us that we can play and do hard things. We can laugh our way into deep inner healing. And we can skip along our path to our biggest dreams—no matter how serious we may have made them feel.

Take a moment to enjoy life. Run through wildflowers. Create something for the pure joy of it. Play with no outcome attached. Re-energize yourself. Love yourself with so much life force that self-belief, self-confidence, and self-appreciation are the themes of your days. There is a lightness to this week, with an invitation to take off all that feels heavy and see what changes in yourself as you move through the world from that place.

Enjoy beautiful connections with your loved ones, letting your emotions, presence, and unspoken bonds draw you closer. It’s a time of healing through being seen and seeing one another, through being loved and loving, being accepted and accepting.

As Mercury and the Sun explore the realms of Leo, we are invited to remember, embody, and play within the joy of being alive. Let your inner child loose and let them guide you. How do you want to play? What experience do you want to immerse yourself in? What in your environment can bring you awe, inspiration, and laughter?

What is one thing you can do each day to bring joy into your life? As simple or grand as it may be. Why not? You can accomplish incredible things and play each step of the way. You can be seen for who you truly are. You can open your heart to those who are deserving.
